NO problem in using a  tasbeeh or counter but its preferable to use your fingers.
There is no problem in setting particular target if you don’t believe it is sunnah or recommended as then it becomes a bid’ah.

is it a shirk or bidah to use tasbih to complete a zikr target set by me example 1000 times this and that .after i complete the target i still do zikr . But i simply wanted to make sure i complete my daily target of zikr

Is this dua from an authentic hadith and am I able to recite it. 1484.
