Quran should not be played as a background music. It should be recited only when people are listening to it.

As for opening the night with a short passage of the Quran, this is not a sunnah and I advise not doing it.

In sha Allah, I am orgainsing a charity dinner event soon and would like you to recommend a surah that can be played on CD as the guests are arriving (Muslims and non-muslims). Also, can you recommend a short passage from the Quran that can be recited on stage and translated into English for the non muslim guests?

I used to improve my Tajweed with the Qiraat of some renowned Qari but I have been recently advised not to recite along with the Qiraat. Only once the Ayat finishes than I should follow and not along with it. How far is it right? I could not find the authentic answer for this Query. PLEASE help me guide this as I have been even telling my children to listen the recitation in their phones and practice.
