In our mosque,after we offer fajar prayer, a certain elder normally instructs the congregation to read Surah Yassin so that Allah ward us from the affliction of the Coronavirus. Is this Allowed?

In messenger group my 4-5frineds everyday gives task like today read 25verse of quran,say 100times astagfirullah etc & whoever does this say done in group,(not that everyone must to do this,if someome didn’t do it’s their choice).they give task because mayb someone didn’t do it ever but after given task she mayb read some verse/dhikr then make it a habit.only for this purpose.is it permisible?
