Reciting the Fatiha and these surah and making Du’ah is an innovation.

In Friday prayer, after fatiha, the imam said we will do a khatm for the deceased. I know khatm is Bidah but after friday prayer till asr the imam went on reciting surah from quran after every surah he made a dua. Is this bidah?
