In Asian countries most parts,people after making some special dishes recite surah fatiha,some other surah and then they ask Allah to forgive the so and so dead people. I know this practice is an innovation but when someone brings that food to our home and we came to know after he left that the above innovation activity is done. So whether we should throw the food away or eat or give to someone?

If the food is halal, you can eat it providing you are not participating with them in their gatherings.
