It is permissible to work as a diplomat providing one doesn’t lie, cheat or do anything that contradicts with Islam.

I would want to ask is being diplomatic allowed in Islam? As I know that we are told to be honest in Islam as sometimes being straight and forward leads to conflicts and problems.
