I wanted to know the reason behind the marriage of Prophet (P.B.U.H) To Ayesha (R.A) as it is something which always disturbs to my non-Muslim friends that how can someone give their young daughter to some 50 years old man.

The Prophet’s marriage was a revelation from Allah and he was ordered to do it.

One should remember that the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam married Khadeeja, may Allah be pleased with her when she was 40 and he was 25. He remained with her until she died when has was 50 years old and she was about 65. If he was after lust and women, he wouldn’t have stayed that long with an older woman.

Besides, all the pagans at his time, they said everything about him that they could to smear his reputation. They said he was as sorcerer, a mad man, a poet and a priest. The astonishing thing was that no one had ever accused him of womanizing or any of what the disbelievers accuse him of today. This was because it was a normal practice to marry at that age.

A sister is asking most people use umm Ahmad, umm Rana , such name, but Prophet Mohammed is most time been addressed in his name instead of Abu Qasim ,and khadijah his wife is not addressed as Umm Qasim in most case ,is this sunnah? and why?
