ANSWER:

Because this was instructed to us by our Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam when he said that the best of generations is my generation, those who follow them and those who follow them. These are the people that understood Islam the best.

I understand why we follow the quran and sunnah but why do we follow the salaf and sahaba and their understandings.

My friends are very unintelligent about Islam. I only really have 4 or 5 close friends, they are all Muslims. They always say things like… oh my gosh, oh my goodness, Jeez, etc. I have tried to warn someone in a nice manner but I got in trouble with my people. Am I excused from leaving the area when they say these things, if I wouldn’t hang out with them I wouldn’t really have friends.
