Hajj only expiate for minor sins,major sins need repentance

I have heard and read in many books that if a person performs Hajj and if his / her Hajj is accepted by Allah, all his / her previous sins are forgiven. He / She becomes as if he / she just taken birth from the womb of a mother. Does this mean that a person’s sins are erased including adultery, backbiting, lying, deceiving, cheating, forgery, etc?
