If he borrowed money from you, you must ask him for that money. It is possible that he thought it was a gift or forgot about it.

I gave to a colleague with intention that he will pay me back the cost, but he did not pay me back. I shy to ask him for money. If I ask him to give me some money (equal to my one) as loan and then will not return, is this ok or not?

Is it ok if items are put on top of the quran, not for the purpose of being disrespectful but because of certain situations. For example one puts a book on top of the quran to protect the physical book from the extremities of rain, or sitting on a hot car dash board and being warped if not protected. what about on a bedside table where there are several books piled up, is it necessary to put the quran on the top of all the others, assuming none of these books have anything haram, or rude in them?
