Self effort means give your 100%. It doesn’t mean that if you give your best then the result should be as you hoped it to be. Give it your all and rely entirely on Allah for the results and be confirmed in your belief that this is what was destined for you, whether it’s to your liking or not as only Allah knows what’s good for us.

I come to know from you that Allah won’t give/assist without self-effort. But then how can I feel relieved that a certain matter is beyond my means instead of regretting like a disbeliever. How many times should I retry something before I conclude it wasnt destined. How can I stay optimistic provided effort is made?
