ANSWER:

If you’re not giving sacrifice, it is not obligatory upon you to refrain from cutting the nails and hair for 10 days of Dhul hijjah. 

You should not refrain from this as this would be an innovation since you’re seeking reward from something that wasn’t prescribed by the Qur’an or the Sunnah.

I am not able to perform Qhurbani this time. Is it still mandatory for me not to trim hair and nails after sighting the moon of Dhul Haj? If I voluntarily want to earn rewards can I abstain from trimming of hair and nails during the first ten days.
