Dowry is the money given by the groom! If the gift is within reason, he should accept it. But if it is too much such as a car etc, this is dowry!

Whatever her parents give her, this is a gift from them to her. 

Groom doesn’t want anything from bride nor he is demanding but bride’s parents want to give furniture, car etc. out of their own will and desire as they are financial capable and they feel happy in giving it to groom as part of marriage. Still should groom accept it or reject it.
