ANSWER:

Advise them in private if their sin is private. If they don’t listen and they still commit it in public, you can advise them in public and in front of others. 

Do we need evidence that we advised someone in private before publicly advising against them or refuting them if they have not corrected their mistake?

I like Bolly movies. The fact is that I used to subtitle them for people who didn’t understand hindi and upload my subs to the net. I also subtitled music videos and posted them on FB. Now I can only delete my subs from certain pages, others don’t permit it. Also note that certain movie pages used my subs and I can’t do anything. Would this be considered as a Sayyi’a Jaariya? What should I do?

I know that showing off is considered minor shirk and that showing off in Islam is the purpose of a person to please other people but this one question would always come to mind what if a Muslim showed off but fears and worship Allah with good intention at the same time would this be a sin? If so would this sin fall into the same category or a lesser sin?
