Repeating the name “Allah” a number of times is not part of the Sunnah as some sects in Islam does that by say “Allah” a thousand time. You make thikr by praising Allah and glorifying Him.

It appears to be a bida’ah as there is no evidence from the Sunnah that our Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam used to say this before Du’ah.

There isn’t anything from the Sunnah to back this up but some scholars say that this was reported by some of the Salaf and followers of the companions of the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam. Therefore, it is permissible to use it.
