ANSWER:

It is against the sunnah to stand up for others but it is permissible if they feel offended or they don’t know the sunnah, so that you avoid the worst of the two evils.

Can I show respect to anyone senior than me by standing up? As it is a tradition in our country to show respect to our teacher in schools in this way.
