First of all you shouldn’t have any contact with men before marriage because this is not permissible in islam. A muslim sunni woman should not marry a man from another sect if he is a Shia or similar to that.

assalamu alaikum. am 22 living in Australia and come from a Muslim family. I have found someone who is a suitable partner in marriage.But I am having issues with his parents as they are not willing to accept me because I am not from the same sect in Islam as his familyMy question is, are they right in not allowing us to marry just based on that reason?If not, what can we do in order to get our parents approval? jazakallahu khairan
