If the cousins are of the same gender, they should maintain the ties of kinship by communicating with each other, either in person or on phone, however if they’re of opposite gender, they shouldn’t interact unnecessarily as they’re not mahram to each other.

Are your cousins like your brothers and sisters and if you stop talking to them does this count as cutting family ties? Do you have to talk with all relatives even distant ones or just your close ones? To keep ties with family do you have to visit them or can you call them on phone and write to them?
