ANSWER:

It’s not permissible to sever ties of kinship, it’s one of the major sins in Islam. 

You can call them once in a while or text them and give them salam whenever you meet them without socialising or being part of any haram conversations, like backbiting etc.

Am i sinned, if i stay away and even not meet relatives that backbite, slander, ask silly stupid and irrelevant questions that makes me have a headache?

My family(sometimes) and my close friends make fun of me saying that I did haram things like ages ago. But the taunts haven’t stopped yet. They make fun of me, and even say that I’m no one tell them what is right or wrong. Over the years I have grown close to Allah and I have repented for my sins. And when I feel bad about these taunts they tell me that I need to grow up and stop feeling offended.

There are people who says that we can have unnecessary conversations with cousins as they are close relatives. So, they chat with them in family messenger groups and have unnecessary conversations. Even a sheikh in my own family engage in such conversations. So I am really confused. So, I eagerly want to know the truth.
