…The committee is using the money donated to the Masjid to fund this event around £6,000. My question – Is this OK to use money given to the Masjid to fund these types of event? One brother said that the committee should not use money donated for the Masjid as the people have given whatever they have for the running of the Masjid and not to entertain business people.

If they tell the people that the expenses of this event will be deducted from the donations, this is permissible.
The problem is that if they don’t do such events, these business men would not attend and most likely wouldn’t donate.
