The Sunnah is to be prayed with the Imam as this is far greater in reward that praying it at home. Praying with the Imam until he completely finishes the prayer is equivalent to praying the whole night.
It is permissible to be prayed at home and one can pray 11 rak’ah as well. If you want to increase, this is permissible.
