If you are a man and you are close to the masjid, you must pray in it if you hear the athan. But if you are a female or you are a male but don’t live near a masjid, you may shorten the prayers until you feel that you are settled in that city.

During a month long vacation is it preferable to pray normal prayers or shortened prayers.

I am always in a dilemma when I go for vacation. The timings of prayers especially ZUHR and ASR is delayed by at least one hour. I had a software loaded in my mobile and it calculates the timings as per Saudi system.During these paryers there is always a difference on at least one hour i.e ZUHRis at 2 pm and ASR is at 5pm. Now in situations like this is it necessary to pray alone at home at their early stated timings or pray with Jamaat at late timings. Only a few Masjids follow the prayers at their early stated timings.

I have a sister that doesn’t pray.We always ask her to pray but she says that there is no point of praying because i don’t do anything bad and i’m always clean.
