This is not correct.

If the Istikhara was done and one felt good and went on with it, this means that Allah choose for you this thing and there is good in it for you. However, whatever happens afterward is good for you but you may fail to see it as Allah has things store for you and you also can be blamed for the failure in it due to your own sins or behavior.

If things worked out well, this means that the marriage is a good thing for both the man and wife. If things later on came to be bad between them, this is due to their own fault and not that the marriage was bad. Otherwise, we would all do istkhara before going to university and before accepting a job etc and demand that nothing wrong happens.
