Placing the hands on the chest is the Sunnah. Placing it under the navel is not part of the Sunnah but it is permissible as the whole thing is not mandatory.

Sheikh, i was reading shaikh al-bani(may allah have mercy on him)prophets’s prayer(peace be upon him).he was of the view that one should place his hands on the chest and said that it is not permissible to place hands below navel or the navel but i saw many imams like shaikh abu baker shatri who leads prayer at la-fourqan masjid in jeddah and many imams who place their hands below navel or navel.shaikh is both sunnah or one is right and one is wrong?
