Because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The time of ‘Isha’ is until midnight” (narrated by Muslim).

Please if you would kindly explain to me as to why Ishaa cannot be read after 12 midnight because the barelwi sect seem to be disagreeing on this ruling.They are saying that Ishaa can be read right upto the time of Fajr.
