It is obligatory for men and recommended for women

Eid prayer – whether Eid – ul – Fitr or Eid – ul – Azha; if any one leaves them intentionally or unintentionally, is there any sin on him? Does Eid prayer comes under obligatory prayer or voluntary prayer (Nafl)?

I said to one of the Imam that praying Witr like Magrib is not allowed. He back fired me and said that this is also from the sunnah.Could you please help me with the reference of the Hadeeth in which Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade to pray witr like Magrib.
