This hadith also says cant be leather slippers (from islamqa):

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about what the muhrim should wear. He said: “He should not wear a shirt, hooded robe (burnous), trousers, a turban or leather slippers.”

my question is, is it ok if it is “leather” sandals that dont go above the ankle, see this link example of what i mean:

http://www.1st-product.com/products/104/MenS-Leather-Sandals-53367.html

though it has a heel strap, my can be folded so that part is not going on the heel- as it may be classed as covering part of the ankle.

As i was writing this question, i had a thought, that do i need to worry about whether the leather is made from pig also

You should not wear leather that is najis such as pig’s.

Sheikh from my older questions on footwear, based on your answer saying the rule is not above ankle, not qualify as khoof, and cant be shoes.
