What he said is good but it is not mandatory. The knowledge you must learn is the one that you can’t worship Allah people without.

For example, a person is going for hajj. It is a must for him to learn about the rulings of hajj so that he can worship Allah properly.

I listen to good Islamic lectures, but a learned person told me that I should learn Islam in a formal way, starting with classical Arabic, then the fundamentals of Islam and so on. Do I have to study the way he says?
