We don’t have this in Saudi Arabia and it is not part of the Sunnah to have such a celebration.

If the child has finished memorizing the Quran and they wanted to throw a party to encourage others, this is permissible. But to celebrate when only starting, this is a waste of money and also an innovation.

What is Maktab (Quran Learning) celebration, my friend said she is going to celebrate maktab for her son& when I asked her what is maktab she said when a child starts Islamic education. Is this according to quran & sunnah? She also said Saudi also do it
