No, you may not as you came with the intention for Hajj or Umrah. This means that you have to make your intention when you pass by the Miqat.

My parents live in jeddah and i spend 5-6 days each month there. Can i travel to jeddah and enter into ‘ihram’ for hajj or umrah from there?

I live and work in Al-Qunfuda , 380 kms south of jeddah . It lies outside of the miqat (yalamlam). What type of hajj should i perform ? If i perform hajj ‘tamattu’ do i have to stay within the boundaries of miqat between umrah and hajj?
