This is OK as long as you didn’t cover your face, leaving an opening for the eyes.

I sometimes covered my face using my headscarf from the side to observe hijab from non mahram men around me…was it okay? although it is mentioned that in ihram ladies must not wear niqab?!

We came back from Mina on the 12th of zul hijjah before sunset straight to Jeddah and did not perform tawaf al wida…as some experts said that it is not mandatory for the residents of Jeddah.
