Is listening to the news as sinful as listening back biting in case where it is talking about an individual or a particular group of individual?

If my parents backbite after advising them before can I walk out of the room to show them that I’m not happy with this? Maybe they would understand? I know this might not be the most respectful thing but with parents you can’t correct them straight away. You have to give them time and be patient. I can’t bear to listen. &with backbiting I’m sinful for listening to maybe this action can be useful.
