You shouldn’t sever your kinship. Helping them when you can is part of connecting it and it is rewarded as long as it is halal.

Therefore, I advise you to help them whenever you can but don’t go out of your way to do so

What is your advise on when you think someone in your family is using you for their own personal gain, should you still stay in contact with this person, or simply help them with what you can but don’t go out of your way?
