Sheikh ,the elders at my place says we should not keep or use broken mirror or glass at home. is this a myth or has any relevance with Islam

The question is when people offer salah and goes in rukoo they see between the feet or sometimes on the thumb of the right foot.When i enquired from one he said our imam said that the soul will be pulled from the thumb of right foot so we look on it.What is the extact ruling according to shareeia.
