Conventional mortgage is clear RIBA. One is better off paying rent till the rest of his life rather than getting involved in such a major sin.

A good friend of mine wants to buy a property, but needs to take out a loan. The issue is however, there does not seem to be any Islamic financing available here in Singapore. Any thoughts on what is the best way to do this (using CPF etc.). Buying the property helps him with his citizenship application as well, which is another important factor to him.
