ANSWER:

The major sins are not only 7 but they are more likely to be 70 as Ibn Abbas said. A Major sin is any sin that Allah has set a prescribed punishment over or threatened the one who does it with hell fire or cursing and being deprived from His mercy. 

2 weeks back you sent me a link to my previous question regarding major sins. The islamqa link mentioned 7 Major sins. So if there are only 7 major sins, the rest are classed as Minor? Such as backbiting, hitting someone etc. And these minor sins can be wept off through ablution and prayer right? Kindly let me know if there are any other sins apart from Major and Minor
