You are not allowed to communicate with them unless for necessities and while lowering your gaze. Chit chatting or having female friends is totally prohibited. As for the hadeeth, this is not a hadeeth of Mosa, peace be upon him. This is a hadeeth where our prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: whenever a man is with a woman in seclusion, then third is the devil!

my question is, is it allowed to talk to females in Islam which are outside the category of blood relations? Because I go to college, and sometimes regarding work I need to, or just to maintain friendship is it allowed? One of my friends told me the incident where Iblees promised Musa (pbuh) that whenever a man and female will speak, he will be the third. Is this valid?
