ANSWER:

If he is senile and can’t recognize people or know the difference between day and night, then there is no fidya on him as he is not accountable for his actions any more.

I heard of a group of brothers who were very hungry whilst fasting and wanted to break their fast but there was still many hours left until iftar so they travelled somewhere so they can eat and break their fast
