ANSWER:

A man does not need anyone’s permission to get married except the permission of the girls father (wali). 

However, it’s best if you try and convince your parents before getting married. 

I’m a man, do my parents have the right to regulate who my future wife is? If I marry my own choice, and they don’t approve, do I lose the reward of Birrul Walidain?
