ANSWER:

You must not listen to her in this regard at all.
You can get married in a most humble way and you must not take even a penny from your bride as this is not part of Islam whatsoever, in fact it is you who has to give her dowry(Mahr) 

I found 1 or 2 religiuos bride for marriage whose family are poor even I also.my mother ask their family for huge dowry.I remembered my mother that according sunnah poor can be married without spending a penny.as of my current status I wish I could do that.but my mother gets angry & answered do marriage by yourself.besides I am getting older in age. what can I do?
