The arch by its side is part of the kaabah and that is why people don’t go through it when making Tawaf

How do we properly understand the hadith in Bukhari “don’t you see when your folk built the kaaba, they did not build it on all the foundations built by Ibrahim?” The kaba today is not on the foundations set by Ibrahim but is in the approximate area, not the exact area?
