QUESTION: I seek advice. Only one man proposed. He has good character, but I know more about religion and he cannot read Quran, though I always wanted a husband to lead me. He is poor, while I am wealthy. My mother is against him. I am very insecure and fear no one else will ever marry me, so I cling to this chance. Should I marry him despite the gap in knowledge and wealth because I really want a family?

QUESTION: At 15, I did nikah via text without wali/witnesses on my side but i don’t know if he had witnesses and read both my proposal and accepted it audibly what if he did so. Was this valid in any way? If so, how to get a divorce if he is unreachable? We shared details via text about each other but we never met, heard or saw each other. I’m 19, it’s been 4 years since we broke up, I even forgot his name.

ANSWER: It was not a valid nikah. This has no value as it was a mockery of Islamic rulings! Repent to Allah sincerely while showing deep remorse and never be in a haram relationship again as this is totally prohibited in Islam.

QUESTION: Sheikh, I am not comfortable with a Tabligh Jamaat proposal due to strict Tabligh practices I do not agree with. My parents believe it is the best option and that I will have no pressure after marriage, but they are pressuring me despite my refusal. Please advise me.

ANSWER: You must speak up now before the nikkah and going home with him as going home with them is consenting to such a marriage. No one can force you to someone you do not like and you must not agree to marry such a person.

QUESTION: Before marriage my in laws and husband agreed for my job and studies as a physiotherapist now my MIL influence my husband to wait and my husband asked me to wait for few months and he wants me to join where he will be working after he understands that environment as he is also physio ,he says I have to listen to him as he is my husband is it rational do I have to listen to him

ANSWER: If he had agreed to you studying and doing a halal job after marriage and this was stipulated in the marriage contract, he cannot go back on his word! If he does, you have the option to ask for divorce

QUESTION: In initial stage of marriage if husband ask questions like how many lovers used to roam around you before marriage & don’t talk to this relative or that relative,don’t laugh or don’t talk much,is taking divorce advisable instead of wasting time on this type of marriage

ANSWER: If your parents are self sufficient or someone is there to take care of them and they’re physically not dependent on you then no problem in making hijrah with your wife

QUESTION: Is it true that it’s Haram to have intimacy with one’s wife when the adhaan is being given, cause it disrespectful?
