QUESTION: My husband and I live in *****, we are both working and got married last year. After marriage, he uses religion only to oppress me. His brother lives with us he tells me to stay in normal clothing and asks me to spend time with him, cook for him and treat him like a son. He is only 2 years younger to me. ANSWER: This is totally prohibited! You must put your foot down and never come in front of him like this and never be alone with him in the house. He is obliged to provide you with a separate house. If he doesn’t do that, you are better off leaving him before you conceive from him!

QUESTION: Some people do Nikah on a day and Valima on the next immediate day and they have feasts for both. But I was told that only Valima feasts is from Sunnah and that Nikah feasts is not from Sunnah. So should we not attend Nikah feasts, sheikh?
