QUESTION: We used to like each other, hence our parents decided to solidify the relationship, Recently, we got engaged However, my fiancé and I have always wanted a Nikkah. He asked his parents several times to have our Nikkah done, but they think that Nikkah without rukhsat is senseless, as no one knows what the future holds. In this case, are we sinful?

ANSWER: You aren’t married and hence being in contact with one another is sinful If your father agrees, you can have the contract done without his parents knowing about it and you are now man and wife and can talk and communicate without being sinful

QUESTION: Is it permissible for the prospective husband to request his future wife to undergo gynecological examinations to ensure that everything is in order?

ANSWER: Why would he ask for such tests? She can also ask for similar tests to get even if she wants so that he would feel what she feels! For example, she can ask for a sperm count to ensure that he is not impotent and can have children !

QUESTION: If a woman’s husband is currently unemployed and is unwillingly to pay for her delivery due to parents and rent, can he ask her father to bear the delivery and post delivery expenses even if the father is retired and chronically ill? Should the daughter sell some of her gold and not burden her father?

ANSWER: Of course! The man is obliged to pay for all of his wife’s expenses.

QUESTION: I will be marrying a Second wife who is a divorcee with 1 Child. She has agreed to forfeit her Islamic right to equal time share by her own free will. Is it Islamicly sufficient for us to have only a verbal agreement to this, or should we both sign a contract between ourselves?

ANSWER: Saying it verbally is sufficient while baring in mind that she has all the right to retract from such an agreement after sometime as it is her right to do so.

QUESTION: Can I repeat my nikah with my husband to add some sharayat and to increase haq mehar that are necessary for my security in future before my rukhsati? As I’ve issues with him and I don’t want to leave him.
