Married 1st cousin,spouse always looks for my siblings sins and backbites them to me, then tells me not to tell anyone, to keep the secrets that he has found out about my siblings, such as the haraam things they are doing. How to deal with this?

ANSWER: You must remind him that backbiting is a major sin and leave his company until he speaks of something else if he doesn’t stop.

If my husband is shouting on my mother in law in front of me with words like, “use your brain otherwise don’t irritate me, you are brainless and so our maternal relatives”, as his wife, what should i do? And if i don’t say anything because of the fear that my husband might fight with me, am i wrong? Please help.

ANSWER: You must not say a word and simply not be in the same place and when he is in a good mood, talk about the major sin of being disrespectful to parents without taking his name, with diplomacy, wisdom and knowledge.

I dont like gender mixing in the family especially my brother’s wife as the prophet said that next to kinship are death. My father said to me, don’t follow islam so strictly as a man came to prophet and asked if i follow the 5 pillars of islam, will i go to jamnah. Prophet said yes. And the prophet said to the people he is a man jannah. Please can you clearify this hadeeth?

ANSWER: This is true. However, this doesn’t mean that he won’t go first to hell to cleanse him from his sins before going to paradise! Doing the 5 pillars of Islam doesn’t mean that one can do as many sins as he wants and won’t be held accountable for them!

If father doesn’t feel disrespected from something i did, which could be disrespectful islamically or in some cultures, am i sinful? For example he is backbiting and i try to defend someone or stop him from backbiting but he continues so i take a deep breath as if im frustrated etc.

My dad is pressurized by his bro and bros family to send them money. Even his nephews disrespect my parents. My dad then limits my mom to send his family money. Whenever my mom buys anything he says money is wasted. But he has spent A LOT of money on his bro and bros fam but doesn’t consider that. yet they are so ungrateful and say my dad never helps them. what he is doing is right? And what to do

ANSWER: This is his money and he has the right to do with it whatever pleases him. He on the other hand must not favor others over his own wife and children as they are his priority.

My father got angry at me due to a very small reason. I apologized with 3 times but he shouted at me instead and he’s not been talking to me since 5 months. I always ask forgiveness from Allah. Will my prayers be valid as I heard Allah gets angry if you hurt your parents or if parents are angry at us

ANSWER: Keep asking his forgiveness without nagging him and do things for him that would make him happy & be pleased with you and make a lot of dua to Allah to open his heart for you.

When i knock on my moms room door, she sometimes doesn’t say “come in” or , she also says “yes?” and I know this gives me permission to go into her room, is it okay for me to go into her room even if she doesn’t say specifically “come in” ?

ANSWER: No, you should not go until she says come in.

I have heard a hadith that status of a deceased person is elevated by praying of his son. In this regard what we have to pray. As my father has passed 4 years back, I just want to know what i have to do Or pray, so that my fathe’s status gets elevated and his sins be forgiven. I am his daughter. And is this only for sons? Thank you

ANSWER: If you have advised them, you have done your job and you’re not accountable if they don’t. It’s your father’s responsibility to order them to wear the proper islamic hijab. Keep advising them with good manners, wisdom and knowledge but do not nag them.

Is the dua of the husband for his wife as strong as the dua of the parent for his son/daughter?
