I’m sitting with the groom for meeting without niqab and we’re talking with each other.And my father and other family members are sitting in far from us, they can see us but can’t hear us.Is it permissible?

ANSWER: Your father should be able to hear the conversation as such seclusion is prohibited as he is a non mahram.

Is it permissible to ask the girl you want to meet before proposal to dress in tight clothes (jeans etc) so you can get a picture of what kind of woman you’re marrying since due to fitna alot of men have desires for a particular body shape?

ANSWER: This is totally prohibited and you would be kicked out of the house and no father would ever let you in his house to meet his daughter for marriage! You might be better off going to the cattle market!

The father lives in a different country. But the paternal uncle lives in the same country as his brother’s wife and daughters. Since the father can’t be there, who should be in the marriage meeting when a man comes for his daughter? Is it permissible for the mother and daughter to be there with the potential husband and his mother?

ANSWER: They can’t sit with the potential suitor as he is non mahram to them. The father must authorized his brother to be her guardian and sit with the suitor.

My mother hates my husband for no reason and wants me to get a divorce cause we only have one child! He’s always good to her and respectful but she keeps pushing me to divorce my husband who is a great husband and a father? What should I do? She depresses me about it! ANSWER: No problem in not inviting the poor if this is not done out of arrogance. However, he should focus on inviting righteous people, regardless of their financial status.

Sheikh, My family friends asked for my hand and promised to come to Pakistan from USA. In Asian families word means a lot. Everything was decided and we were preparing for shadi. They bought the tickets and confirmed us. We even announced everything in our family. But they said no at the last moment. And said we are not liable for anything. Are they sinful for breaking promise?

ANSWER: There is no obligation to continue in such an engagement as it is not binding. Be grateful that Allah took it away from you and your family. Imagine how it would have been, had he walked out on you after marriage and two or three children!

ANSWER: Of course you should cancel the wedding as you would want a practicing wife with correct aqeedah and a mother who would be a role model for your children who would instill Islamic values in them.

My question is can I refuse a proposal if I dont like the man. I live in a community that isn’t pious and islamic. Me and my family dont know any pious women. How should I get married? Is it permissible to contact a pouis sister online for marriage through email, twitter or instagram? So I make an appointment to meet her with her dad, would this be permissible? If this isn’t permissible, does that mean that I can’t get married? What is else can I do sheikh?

ANSWER: You can let the local Imam know that you are interested in marriage or sign up for matrimonial sites however, it is not permissible for you to contact non-mahram women directly like this as they are non-mahram to you!
