QUESTION: I wanted to ask that if i am marrying someone , will i need to adopt his surname as I am revert and belong to non- muslim family.

ANSWER:This is totally prohibited and one of the major sins in Islam. It’s your right to have your father’s name with your name even if he’s a non muslim.

ANSWER: This is not permissible. The girl and the potential spouse get to meet only once in the presence of her mahram and its not permissible to keep meeting or chatting after that.

QUESTION: Sheikh, there is this man I want to marry but I’m Sunni and he’s Shia so there would be a lot of complications. ANSWER: This is permissible and there is no sin in that as long as he fulfills his wife’s rights. However, this is not normal unless the couple are fine with it.
