QUESTION: Sheikh In Islam is it permissible to marry (nikah) the same person twice without getting divorced? My brother is in US he got married with a girl there and now they want to get married again in India in front of their family?

ANSWER: If it’s only a function and a party they want to throw then no problem in this as long as it’s a segregated event without music or anything haram. It is not permissible to make the marriage contract twice.

QUESTION: I was wondering if we could rely upon scholar ibn Taymiyyah’s statement that it’s the fathers’s choice to name his children if he and his wife are in dispute as he didn’t mention the evidence to this from either Qur’an or Hadith? And in general can we rely upon scholar’s statements even if they don’t mention the evidence to their claims?

ANSWER: The statement is 100% true. It is the sole right of the father to name his children as they would be carrying his name.

ANSWER: If there is no one to help them for real, this becomes an obligation upon their daughter and she must do that even if her husband divorces her. She should be diplomatic with him and try to convince him peacefully.

ANSWER: What he is saying it an absolute lie and not related to Islam. It might be related to Hinduism! You and your child are his sole responsibility and he must provide for both of you. He can stop providing for you if you left his home without his permission.
