Sheikh I want to know whether in islam is only the husband allowed to get angry and burst out n shout at wife or the wife is also allowed to express her anger whenever he is wrong? Because I feel I am not allowed to be angry at all, even if I try he asks me watch my tone n behave, how is this fair sheikh?

ANSWER: A wife is not a slave! She is not obliged to obey the husband in everything he tells her unless it is related to his rights as a husband such as in the way she looks etc. If he tells her to stand and not to sit, she is not obliged to obey him!

A man who, whenever he ask wife for sex but accepts it if she asks to wait for another time, out of desire to not cause discomfort for her, & only has sex if she’s ‘in the mood’. From Islam’s perspective, do we praise this man for being considerate to wife’s feeling or do we say he should not do this as it may give bad encouragement to wife (eg it may end up that she keeps doing this)?

ANSWER: She is obliged to ask for his permission only in what is related to his own rights as a husband such as fasting voluntary fasts and going out or inviting people to his house. She doesn’t need his permission before she eats or changes her clothes or takes a shower!

ANSWER: This is a cultural thing! Most Islamic countries consider this as part of honoring the husband and respecting him. Only those in the west consider this to be anti feminist and would fight against it! Probably this is why their marriages don’t last long.

My friend has women following his social media account, but he does not follow them back. His wife strongly dislikes it and he justifies it saying its halal and he isn’t sinful as he isn’t following them back. But his wife is upset and says he doesn’t care about her feelings, and she wants him to remove them, as she doesnt want other women to look at his pictures. What is your advice for him?
