QUESTION: I seek your guidance regarding fairness between children. If a parent has children aged 5, 13, and 15, and chooses to gift a phone to the 15-year-old based on their perceived maturity and responsibility, would it be considered unjust to not give the same to the younger children—especially if the parent believes they are not yet ready for such a device?

ANSWER: It is not permissible to favor one over the others in gifts. However, if one needs something such as a car or a phone due to their age, this is not a gift but rather an essential thing they need in their lives.

QUESTION: I’m in my 40s and have sincerely tried to marry, choosing religious and stable suitors. My only wali, my father, rejects them because he discourages my sunnah lifestyle. He’s not fully practicing, and I fear falling into sin. If he continues to block me unjustly, is it permissible to marry via wali hakim with proper witnesses, possibly overseas to maintain family ties?

ANSWER: If he has blocked many good suitors, you can bypass him and your wali would be your paternal grandfather or your brother or your paternal uncle in this very order.

ANSWER: By being extra respectful and dutiful towards them, to show them Islam has made you a better person & to represent Islam in a positive manner. You need to learn more and more about Islam in order to be knowledgeable when talking to them.

QUESTION: Does the husband need his parents permission or can his parents order him what to do on being back together with his wife after about one and half year of separation with his wife?

QUESTION: My mother often asks me to iron her clothes for her when she goes to work. Unfortunatly she does tabarruj. Does this come under the notion of not assisting one another in evil like if my father sends me to buy cigarettes for him? Or can I obey her ?

ANSWER: If you are certain that this particular dress she is going to wear outside without any abayah, you must not collaborate with her on such evil and assist her on it.

QUESTION: My family isnt that religious. And my sister goes out with crop and my mother meets with her male “friends” but anything i would say wouldnt chnage a thing for them. And my father isnt that religious. I am not an authorative person so is my father. Am i considered a dayouth if i dont give advice(they wouldnt listen)will i never enter jannah?

ANSWER: The son/brother has no authority over his mother/sister and all he can do is advise them with good manners, wisdom, knowledge and diplomacy, therefore once he has done this, he is not a dayooth. This is the father’s job to enforce that on them.

QUESTION: Sheikh my younger brother accidentally discovered that our father watches p@rn , he showed me but none of us ever saw him watching but it’s in his phone’s history. Our dad is mostly out of the country and comes for a few months he also prays his salah . After seeing that I am a little worried and confused & all sorts of mixed emotions I don’t know what I do

ANSWER: Don’t do anything! You both are sinful for spying on your father in the first place, as this is a major sin in Islam. Shame on you trying to judge him and parenting him as if he is the child and not your father!

QUESTION: I saw some videos so was wondering that is it permissible to kiss parent’s feet ?

ANSWER: It is permissible to kiss parents feet without bowing down to them as when they are sitting and their feet are up on the chair for example.

QUESTION: Is it a sin to lie to my elders (father, grandfather) that i am fasting or that i have prayed, even though i am on my period. my mother and aunt have told me that my father and grandfather shouldn’t know that i am on my period, and told me to lie about it.

QUESTION: Whenever a relative gives me eidi (money given on Eid) my mother says she wants to keep that money. Is it permissible to keep that money, which was originally given to me?
